Hampton Sides is a critically acclaimed American historian, journalist, and best-selling author known for his gripping narrative nonfiction works. His themes focus on adding creative depth to real pivotal historical moments, often involving war, exploitation, and survival. Through meticulous research, he’s developed stories highlighting the American West, the manhunt for Martin Luther King Jr.’s assassin, and Captain James Cook’s final voyage. 

Some of his bestselling novels include "Ghost Soldiers" (2001), "Blood and Thunder" (2006), "Hellhound on His Trail" (2010), "In the Kingdom of Ice" (2014), "On Desperate Ground" (2018), and "The Wide Wide Sea” (2024) which was named one of The New York Times’s Ten Best Books of 2024 and featured on Barack Obama’s Summer Reading List.
