Guster Biography

Guster is a Boston, Massachusetts-based alternative rock band. The ensemble, which was founded in 1991, is well-known for its live performances and sense of humour. While attending Tufts University in Medford, Massachusetts, founding members Adam Gardner, Ryan Miller, and Brian Rosenworcel decided to start practicing. The members met during the freshmen Wilderness Orientation program in August 1991, and they debuted as a trio two months later at the Midnight Cafe coffee shop in the Lewis Hall dormitory's common room. The band released its first two full-length albums independently, 1995's "Parachute" and 1997's "Goldfly," but burst into the musical mainstream in 1999 with its third studio album "Lost and Gone Forever," which featured the hit "Fa Fa," which reached the Billboard Adult Top 40 list. With their fourth album, "Keep It Together," the band had moderate chart success, with two singles, "Careful" and "Amsterdam," reaching the Adult Top 40. Joe Pisapia joined the official lineup for "Keep It Together," and his second album, "Ganging Up on the Sun," reached at #25 on the Billboard 200 Albums list. “Easy Wonderful,” their sixth studio album, was released in 2010 and peaked at #22 on the Billboard 200 while hitting #2 on the Alternative Albums list. Guster's tours were first limited to the local area, but as the band's fame grew, they began to expand. Guster has a highly open taping policy and a very committed and active recording community.
