Gurpreet Dhaliwal, MD, is a University of California San Francisco professor of medicine. He teaches medical students and residents in the emergency department, urgent care clinic, inpatient wards, outpatient clinic, and morning report at the San Francisco VA Medical Center, where he is the site director of the internal medicine clerkship. The cognitive processes underpinning diagnostic thinking and clinical problem-solving, as well as the study of diagnostic competence, are two of his academic interests.
