Gur Huberman has been the Robert G. Kirby Professor of Behavioral Finance at Columbia Business School since 1989. He formerly taught at Tel Aviv University and the University of Chicago. Between 1993 and 1995, he was a Vice President at JP Morgan Investment Management, where he was in charge of quantitative equities trading research.
In that position, he also assisted in the development of tax-aware tactics for the private bank. In 1980, he received his PhD (with distinction) in operations research from Yale, and in 1975, he received his B.Sc. (cum laude) in mathematics from Tel Aviv University.
