Griffin Dunne is an American actor, director, and producer. Hailing from New York, he is the eldest child of producer/writer Dominick Dunne and activist Ellen Beatriz Griffin Dunne, with a heritage spanning Irish, English, German, Mexican, and Swedish roots.
Dunne gained fame for roles in cult classics like “An American Werewolf in London” (1981) as Jack Goodman and “After Hours” (1985) as Paul Hackett, earning a Golden Globe nomination for the latter. He started acting in the late 1970s after growing up in Los Angeles and attending school in Colorado. He co-founded Double Play Productions with Amy Robinson, producing films such as “Running on Empty” (1988) and “White Palace” (1990). Dunne made his directorial debut with the Oscar-nominated short “Duke of Groove” (1995), later directing features like “Addicted to Love” (1997) and “Practical Magic” (1998). He also helmed the documentary “Joan Didion: The Center Will Not Hold” (2017) about his aunt, which premiered at the New York Film Festival.
