Gretchen Esther Whitmer is a politician and lawyer who has been serving as the 49th governor of Michigan since 2019, representing the Democratic Party. Before her governorship, she served as a member of the Michigan House of Representatives from 2001 to 2006 and as a member of the Michigan Senate from 2006 to 2015.
