Gordon Moore, a Silicon Valley legend, spent the greater part of his life founding and leading two of the country's most significant technological firms. In 1968, he co-founded Fairchild Semiconductor and subsequently left the business to create Intel. He was the company's chief executive and chairman from 1987 to 1997.
