She founded a modest boutique in the Illinois hamlet of Long Grove in 1979. By 1981, two big shopping malls sought to test the waters by opening a one-of-a-kind store, despite the fact that they weren't sure they'd make any money. The rest, as they say, is history!!!! Gloria Jean's company was sold in 1993. There are now over 1000 shops throughout the world. She was also one of the first females to break through the glass ceiling. She speaks from the heart, not from a piece of paper that she has memorized. Gloria Jean grew up in the city of Chicago, Illinois. She attended Roosevelt High School on Chicago's Northwest Side. Her friends remember her as a quiet, determined young lady who was always on the go. She was taught that she should never volunteer to do anything and then decline. As a result, she developed a habit of sticking to her guns. This now appears to be early evidence of Gloria Jean's impending ambition. Gloria Jean married at the age of 20 and had two children not long after. For some, having two young boys, a load of all papering, and a newly minted Jaycee of the Year award from the local Jaycees would have been enough. Gloria Jean had married the milkman, and as was customary, she needed to work longer hours to supplement her income. She did bookkeeping, babysat for neighbors, hosted toy demonstrations in her house, and even worked as an Avon Lady. She then enrolled in beauty culture school and received her license as a hairdresser after putting her youngest boy on the school bus for the first day of school. This led to the purchase of a local beauty business in Wheeling, Illinois. She divorced her spouse and became a single mother at the start of her career. She met her spouse and ran into a hill of beans while operating her beauty salon. In 1979, I was living in Long Grove, a charming ancient village. She had grown to include Woodfield Mall and Northbrook Court by 1981. Gloria Jean was ready to show everyone that the public was willing to spend more for a decent cup of coffee, that they were willing to be exposed to flavored coffee, and that she also took espresso coffee to the front desk to demonstrate how sophisticated cocktails could be produced with espresso coffee. She explained the sampling package, or 1/4 ponder as she referred to it. To mention a few, there are coffee gift options and club cards. She also popularised the color green. Gloria Jean had discovered an appealing business formula: the finest gourmet coffees served in a pleasant, welcoming environment by individuals who truly cared about their product. She discovered that while making coffee is a straightforward operation, the way everyone loves it is not. Everyone has their own interests and tastes. There is no such thing as a right or wrong manner. There is now a wide range of options to meet everyone's preferences. Gloria Jean has been mentioned. She was able to sell her beauty business in 1986 and began franchising her locations. In Illinois and Wisconsin, there were 11 shops by this time. The firm grew to over 200 locations both domestically and internationally as a result of franchising. In November 1993, Gloria Jean's Gourmet Coffees Inc. was sold.
