Glenn Strange made his radio debut as a member of the Arizona Wranglers singing group on KNX (a CBS-owned affiliate in Los Angeles). Strange found work as a stuntman/villain in western films and serials thanks to his husky bulk and plug-ugly features.
In a series of B-sagebrushers from the late 1930s, he also showed a sense of humor as the sidekick to singing cowboy Dick Foran. Strange became a low-budget Lon Chaney Jr. during the war years, portraying murderous halfwits in a handful of horror films produced by PRC and other low-budget studios.
