Glenda Baskin Glover Biography

Tennessee State University's President is Dr. Glenda Baskin Glover, Ph.D., JD, CPA. She has promoted a five-point strategy that encompasses academic advancement and customer service, fundraising and partnerships, diversity and inclusion, shared governance, and business outreach. Glover was formerly the Dean of the College of Business at Jackson State University in Jackson, Mississippi, where she guided the College of Business through the accreditation process and championed the establishment of the nation's first Ph.D. in Business at an HBCU. She is a certified public accountant, an attorney, and one of just two African American women in the country with the Ph.D.-CPA-JD combo. Glover began her studies as a student at Tennessee State University, where she majored in mathematics. She attended Clark Atlanta University for her Master of Business Administration after graduating with honors with a Bachelor of Science degree. She then earned a PhD in business from George Washington University and a law degree from Georgetown University. Glover was the Chairperson of the Department of Accounting at Howard University prior to joining Jackson State University. Her previous jobs include Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of an engineering business, tax manager for a large public utility, and accountant with a Big-Four CPA firm. Glover has been on the boards of three publicly listed businesses. Citigroup-Student Loan Corporation, Pinnacle Financial Partners, and First Guaranty Bancshares are among them. On each board, she chaired the Audit Committee and acted as the board's financial expert. Glover is the author of over a hundred publications and papers and is widely regarded as one of the country's foremost authorities on corporate governance. She belongs to a number of professional, civic, and non-profit organizations and has received several accolades and distinctions. She is married to Charles Glover, with whom she has two adult children, attorney Candace Glover and Dr. Charles Glover II.
