On leave from Harvard University, where she is the John Zwaanstra Professor of International Studies and Economics, Gita Gopinath is an economic adviser and director of the International Monetary Fund's Research Department. Gopinath was previously an assistant professor of economics at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
She has served on the National Bureau of Economic Research's International Finance and Macroeconomics Program as co-director, as a visiting scholar at the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston, and as a member of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York's economic advisory council.
