Geraldine Brooks is a Pulitzer Prize-winning novelist, journalist, and nonfiction writer. She grew up in Sydney’s suburbs and began her career as a reporter for The Sydney Morning Herald before earning a master’s in journalism from Columbia University. As a foreign correspondent for The Wall Street Journal, she covered conflicts in the Middle East, Africa, and the Balkans.
Her debut novel, “Year of Wonders” (2001), and subsequent works like “March” (2005), which won the 2006 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction, blend historical detail with vivid storytelling. “March” reimagines the Civil War through Mr. March, inspired by Louisa May Alcott’s “Little Women”. Other novels include “Caleb’s Crossing” (2011), “The Secret Chord” (2015), and “Horse” (2022).
