If Texas Tech's Double T had a face, it would resemble Gerald Myers. Myers has spent nearly 50 years at Tech, as a student and athlete in the 1950s, a basketball coach in the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s, and an administrator in the new millennium.
In 1996, Myers took over an athletic department that had been severely harmed by an NCAA probe. Several programs lost scholarships as a result of the fines, post-season bids were put on hold, and the institution has been untracked ever since.
