About George Stella

George discusses his secrets to weight reduction on his program Low Carb and Lovin' It, which features a range of healthful, delightful, and most importantly, fulfilling meals delivered in his trademark passionate approach. No meal is off-limits, from snacks to sweets, breakfast to Sunday dinner, Chinese to Italian! While residing in Deerfield Beach, Florida, George Stella began his career in the culinary industry at an early age. While his first job was as a dishwasher when he was 15, George swiftly rose through the ranks of some of Florida's most exclusive restaurants. He served as an Executive Chef at the Philips Petroleum Company's flagship restaurant, 'Windows on the Green,' in the Pier 66 Hotel in Ft. Lauderdale, in the early 1980s. George would subsequently go on to work with Chef Mark Militelo, the proprietor of the renowned 'MARK'S' restaurants. They launched 'Café Max' in Pompano Beach and delivered the first California Cuisine menu to the state of Florida. Stella's creative energy was channeled into other aspects of the food industry in addition to his profession as a great chef. While living in Florida, George and his wife Rachel supplied on-demand low-carb catering services, and they are in the midst of relocating their business to Connecticut, where they currently reside. In order to market Florida fish for the State of Florida, Department of Natural Resources, and Division of Seafood Marketing in Tallahassee, George also performed cooking demonstrations with celebrities such as Paul Pruhdomme and Julia Child. Stella became interested in a low-carb living when he was 40 years old and had been obese for 20 years. However, in 2001, he came upon Dr. Atkins's New Diet Revolution, a book that forever changed his eating habits. Stella lost 240 pounds by eating a low-carbohydrate diet and is still reducing weight today, despite the constant temptations that come with becoming a chef. Stella and his wife, Rachel, have created hundreds of low-carb recipes for anything from pizza to muffins in order to assist their clients to get rid of carbohydrate-laden items from their cabinets.
