George Kohlrieser is a clinical and organizational psychologist. He earned his PhD at Ohio State University, where he focused on the cardiovascular recovery of law enforcement professionals after high-stress events. His study has made major advances to our knowledge of the role that self-mastery and social discourse play in assisting leaders to maintain high performance via lifetime learning. Professor Kohlrieser is an Associate Clinical Professor of Psychology at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio, as well as an adjunct faculty member at Union Graduate School in Antioch, Ohio, the Fielding Institute in San Francisco, California, and Zagreb University in Croatia. He is the former president of the International Transactional Analysis Association, a former member of the NeuroLeadership Institute's advisory board, and a member of the Society of International Business Fellows (SIBF). Professor Kohlrieser is a well-known media commentator on leadership, conflict, aggression management, and hostage negotiation issues, and he had his own highly renowned radio call-in talk show in the United States for almost ten years. He has worked as a consultant for the BBC, CNN, ABC, and CBS, and his work has appeared in the Wall Street Journal, Economist, Financial Times, Forbes, and other major newspapers and publications. He has given TEDx presentations in both New York and Lausanne. He is the author of Hostage at the Table: How Leaders Can Overcome Conflict, Influence Others, and Raise Performance, which won the Best Business Book Award 2007 from the DCF (French Association of Business Leaders) and the Best Management Book 2008 in Germany by Managementbuch.de. Care to Dare: Unleashing Astonishing Potential Through Secure Base Leadership, his second book, has been named one of the Best Business Books of 2013 by Soundview. He has received a number of personal and program honors. Brandon Hall consulting, a prominent learning and development research organization, awarded him a Gold Medal for the Learning Leadership program he runs as part of IMD's Global Leadership in the Cloud curriculum as the finest breakthrough in innovative learning technology (2015).
