Gavin Dykes Biography

Gavin Dykes is an Education World Forum and Asian Summit on Education and Skills Director. These are yearly gatherings of education ministers and government policymakers. His responsibilities include creating the agenda and negotiating the program's topics. In January 2019, 93 Ministers from over 100 nations attended the Education World Forum. Dykes is a co-founder and debate chair for Education Fast Forward. He also sits on the Advisory Boards of many Ed-Tech companies, including University of the People and BoClips, and is an adviser to the “Educate – Better Edtech Better Learning” Project in London and Lumiar Schools in Brazil. He has worked as a consultant and advisor for the OECD, UNESCO, the World Bank, as well as governments, institutions, and foundations in nations ranging from Ireland to India, and from Jordan to the United States. Dykes moderated the TALIS launch in Tokyo, the inaugural Global Education Industry Summit in Helsinki, and the Skills Summits in Bergen and Porto, among other OECD projects. He is a co-author of the World Bank article "Building and Sustaining National Educational Technology Agencies: Lessons, Models, and Case Studies from Around the World" and "Aspire High – Imagining Tomorrow's School Today." Dykes worked as an Associate Director of the Innovation Unit, which was part of the UK government at the time, and with Futurelab, which provided research and recommendations on new learning practices. His responsibilities in each of these jobs were centered on the use of technology to assist learning. Among other things, he has helped to teach in the Masters in Education Entrepreneurship program at the University of Pennsylvania's Graduate School of Education. He has also collaborated with the National Education Association Foundation in the United States to promote their Global Learning Fellows program.
