Gail Simone is a comic book writer from the United States. Her other famous works include Secret Six, Welcome to Tranquility, The All-New Atom, Deadpool, and Wonder Woman. She is most known for writing DC's Birds of Prey. She was hired as the writer for Batgirl in 2011.
Despite being dismissed from Batgirl by the title's incoming editor, Brian Cunningham, in December 2012, she was rehired on December 21 when DC received criticism from fans. In 2013, she signed a deal with Dynamite Entertainment to create a new Red Sonja series.
