On the field, he is noted for his grit, endurance, and general hustle. Frankie Hejduk was a San Dieguito High School graduate who went on to play three years of collegiate soccer at UCLA from 1992 to 1994, earning an NCAA second-team All-American honor his junior year.
Hejduk trained full-time with the Under-23 United States national team after graduating from UCLA until the 1996 season of Major League Soccer.
