Frank Gaffney is the founder and president of the Washington, D.C.-based Center for Security Policy. The Center was founded in 1988 as a non-profit, non-partisan educational organization. Mr. Gaffney's leadership has established the Center as a national and worldwide resource for timely, knowledgeable, and in-depth analysis of foreign and military policy issues. Mr. Gaffney is the host of Secure Freedom Radio, a nationally syndicated radio show that airs weeknights across the country. Mr. Gaffney discusses current and potential challenges to national security, sovereignty, and our way of life on Secure Freedom Radio. Guests have included Newt Gingrich, John Bolton, Donald Rumsfeld, and a slew of other current and past politicians and political figures. Mr. Gaffney is the co-author and publisher of Shariah: The Threat to America (Center for Security Policy Press, 2010). This highly acclaimed report, with an introduction by former CIA Director R. James Woolsey, New York Times bestseller Andrew C. McCarthy, and Lt. General Harry Soyster, as well as contributions from the 19-member Team B II, provides a comprehensive and articulate second opinion on the US Government's official characterizations and assessments of the threat of political Islam. Shariah: The Threat is based on the work of the Center for Security Policy and provides practical methods for rallying law enforcement, government leaders, and the American public to defend our nation against those who would do us harm. Mr. Gaffney also actively participates in the security policy discussion as a weekly columnist for the Washington Times, TownHall.com, and Newsmax.com. He writes for BigPeace.com, and his writings run on WorldNetDaily.com and FrontPageMagazine.com on a regular basis. He is a featured weekly contributor to Lars Larson's syndicated radio show as well as Greg Garrison's show, and he is a regular guest on syndicated shows with broadcasters such as Sean Hannity, Mark Levin, Hugh Hewitt, Janet Parshall, and Jim Bohannan. Furthermore, he frequently appears on national and international television networks such as Fox News, CNN, and the BBC. His op-ed pieces have appeared in the Wall Street Journal, USA Today, The New Republic, The Washington Post, The New York Times, The Christian Science Monitor, The Los Angeles Times, National Review, Newsday, American Legion Magazine, and Commentary over the years. In April 1987, President Reagan nominated Mr. Gaffney to be the Assistant Secretary of Military for International Security Policy, the highest post in the Defense Department in charge of nuclear forces, arms control, and U.S.-European defense relations. He served in that role for seven months, during which he was the Chairman of NATO's renowned High Level Group, the organization's highest politico-military council. He also served as the Secretary of Defense's representative in crucial US-Soviet discussions and ministerial meetings. Mr. Gaffney served as the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Nuclear Forces and Arms Control Policy under Assistant Secretary Richard Perle from August 1983 to November 1987. Mr. Gaffney worked as a Professional Staff Member on the Senate Armed Services Committee, which was led by Senator John Tower, from February 1981 until August 1983. (R-Texas). In the late 1970s, Mr. Gaffney worked as a defense and foreign policy adviser to the late Senator Henry M. Scoop Jackson (D-Washington). Mr. Gaffney earned a Master of Arts in International Studies from Johns Hopkins University's School of Advanced International Studies and a Bachelor of Science in Foreign Service from Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service. Mr. Gaffney's leadership has been recognized by a number of organizations, including the Department of Defense's Distinguished Public Service Award (1987), the US Business and Industry Council's Defender of the National Interest Award (1994), the Navy League of the United States' Alfred Thayer Mahan Literary Achievement Award (1999), and the Zionist Organization of America's Louis Brandeis Award (1999).
