Fay Presto was born on May 17, 1948, in England. She didn't start performing until she was in her mid-thirties. However, prior to her triumph, she bounced around from one job to the next, from a laboratory assistant at the Atomic Energy Research Establishment Harwell to the fashion industry.
She made the decision to pursue a career in the entertainment sector. She took up magic and changed her identity to Fay Presto after failing to carry a song in the singing category, eventually becoming Britain's top female magician (The Independent, July 2005).
