After meeting in their early teens at a youth camp, Amy Lee and guitarist/songwriter Ben Moody established the band around the end of the 1990s, according to Moody. Amy was playing 'I'd Do Anything for Love' by Meat Loaf on the piano. So I went over to introduce myself, and she began singing for me. I was really blown away, so I persuaded her to join a band with me. Evanescence did not play live as a duet, instead of focusing on EPs and the full-length Origin. Lee told the BBC that she and Evanescence were processing tracks in Memphis, Tennessee when producer Pete Matthews found them. Evanescence finally won a deal with Wind-Up Entertainment, the home of Creed, after he marketed the songs to record labels in New York. Evanescence rose to prominence thanks to the music for Ben Affleck's action film Daredevil, released in 2003.
