Errin Haines Whack Biography

Errin Haines Whack is a member of The Associated Press’ Race and Ethnicity Team. Whack writes frequently on issues of race politics and culture and has covered issues including civil rights the black electorate the modern protest movement and historically black colleges.
Whack’s career with the AP began in 2002 when she was an intern in the Atlanta bureau. After working at The Los Angeles Times and Orlando Sentinel she returned to the Atlanta bureau in 2005 covering urban affairs in her hometown and the Georgia Legislature for seven years. Whack worked at The Washington Post and freelanced for numerous national outlets before returning to AP in 2015 in Philadelphia.
In 2006 Whack was named the National Association of Black Journalists’ Emerging Journalist of the Year for her reporting on civil rights. In 2017 she was recognized by the Philadelphia Association of Black Journalists as its Print Journalist of the Year.
