Ernie Banks was a baseball player in the Major Leagues from 1953 to 1971. Banks has been inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame. Mr. Cub was his moniker. Banks joined with the Negro American League's Kansas City Monarchs in 1950 and made his major league debut with the Chicago Cubs in 1953 as the team's first black player.

He spent his whole career with the Cubs, starting at shortstop until switching to first base in 1962. Banks was a Cubs player who wore the number 14 and is one of just four players whose number has been retired by the team. It's a lovely day for a ballgame, he says, and he's famous for it. Let's play two!
