Miss Connecticut, United States of America When Erin Brady won the title of Miss USA 2013 on June 16th in Las Vegas, Nevada, she put down her calculator and put on a crown. The 25-year-old from East Hampton, a former number cruncher and Financial Accountant for Prudential Retirement, graduated from Central Connecticut State University with a degree in Finance and a minor in Criminal Justice. She is thrilled to be the first in her family to graduate from college. Erin was raised in a home where alcohol and substance abuse were prevalent, and she wishes to utilize her position to fight for children who have been exposed to similar circumstances. After finding that more than half of adult addicts were children of alcoholics, she has made it her mission to end the addiction cycle. Erin's upbringing helped her to see the necessity of serving as a role model for her two younger sisters. At the age of 17, Erin made the intentional decision to live alone, and she credits the experience with teaching her how to be self-sufficient and emotionally strong. Erin likes spending time with friends and family, skiing, cooking, and trying new places in her spare time. Erin likes pushing her body to its physical limits and has a passion for running. The ‘Tough Mudder,' a grueling obstacle course that challenges your endurance and mental power, was her most recent race. Erin will be a spokeswoman for breast and ovarian cancer education, prevention, and awareness as Miss USA, and will collaborate with organizations such as Gilda's Club, Susan G. Komen, and the National Ovarian Cancer Alliance. Erin wants to pursue her MBA after her reign, but she is anxious to see where her new title will take her, and she is interested in television and hosting. Erin was a contestant on ABC Family's Startup U, a reality show in which she competed against other young entrepreneurs. Her idea was Romeo in a Box, a subscription-based business that distributes presents to spouses, girlfriends, and mothers on pre-determined dates, preventing disputes over missed anniversaries.
