Erika Jo Heriges is the younger of two children born to Bo and Paige Heriges (sister Shelby Lynne is three years younger). Mt. Juliet, Tennessee, is 15 miles east of Nashville, where the family resides. Erika Jo is a Gladeville, Tennessee native who graduated from Wilson Central High School in 2005.
Erika Jo was also a national finalist in the 1999 True Value Country Showdown (now known as the Colgate Country Showdown), a talent competition that pitted regional champions from around the country against one another. She is also the youngest individual to ever play the National Anthem at the University of Kentucky's renowned Rupp Arena.
