Eric Dodd Biography

Dodd went to his first concert at the tender age of 11 years old, which happened to be the Counting Crows. Eric knew he wanted to be a singer-songwriter and a musician from that night forward. He credits his elder brother Bryan with noting his big eyes after the event since they shared a strong relationship and a love for music. Bryan, who was 15 at the time, introduced him to a wide range of music. Dodd's education had begun with Bob Dylan, Bob Marley, Nirvana, and the Allman Brothers. And so it goes... Dodd started a rock band with several of his high school friends in Madison, Georgia, where he attended high school. At the town's Cultural Center, he had his first experience of performing original works for an appreciative audience. The youthful band, which was considered a local sensation, performed original and cover songs around their neighborhood and nearby towns. When college called, the members split ways, but Dodd's passion for music remained undiminished, and his desire to create was stronger than ever. Dodd began scouting area pubs and restaurants while attending Georgia College in Milledgeville, and he played anyplace they would allow him. His songwriting and stage presence significantly improved as a result of his unwavering devotion and hard effort. He began working with other songwriters and friends from throughout the state. Dodd's fascination with the inner workings of the music business grew, and he relocated to Athens to study the financial side of his trade. He paid his dues at the numerous venues in town, including the famed Georgia Theatre, while studying Music Business at the University of Georgia. “Moving to Athens was a pivotal step in figuring out how I would make music my life and make my life music,” Dodd recalls. Dodd, now 27, is described by his admirers as an ancient soul, and his songs reflect this sentiment. Dodd manages to blend rock, country, and Americana in a smooth and elegant manner. Not by intention, but by influence, his music appeals to a wide range of listeners. His charismatic performances and maturity behind the scenes demonstrate the composure required to thrive in today's music industry. Since 2008, Dodd and his band have been traveling the Southeast, doing approximately 200 performances each year. Dodd is regarded as one of Georgia's most accomplished and accomplished painters.
