Emmitt is a retired collegiate and professional football player who played for the Kansas City Chiefs of the American Football League from 1966 to 1969, and then for the Chiefs of the National Football League from 1970 to 1978. He has the Chiefs' all-time interception record of 58, which ranks him seventh all-time in pro football.
After being nominated by the NFL's Seniors Committee, Thomas was inducted to the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Thomas joins Len Dawson, Buck Buchanan, Bobby Bell, Willie Lanier, Jan Stenerud, Marcus Allen, coach Hank Stram, founder/owner Lamar Hunt, Joe Montana, Warren Moon, Mike Webster, and coach Marv Levy as the twelfth Chiefs player inducted into the Hall of Fame.
