Emily Ellyn Biography

Emily Ellyn, a chef, and culinary instructor is the Home Economics teacher you've always wished for! She's the mother of Retro Rad cooking, and she urges everyone to rummage through their mothers' recipe boxes, dust off their pressure cookers, and reinvent the old. She remixes the vintage and turns it into something RAD. With her eccentric character and signature cat-eye spectacles, this Retro Rad Diva can be seen having a good time and inspiring audiences at food events all over the world, all while working on her gourmet TV career and completing her Ph.D. in Food Service Education. Emily also volunteers at non-profits like as Florida Hospital and Give Kids The World, writes for edible and Cake Central magazines, and lectures at the University of Central Florida. She's amassed a devoted following as a result of it all. She's been on Food Network's "Food Network Star," "Cupcake Wars," Cutthroat Kitchen, and morning news shows all across the country, as well as a cameo cartoon appearance on "The Simpsons!" Emily grew up on a farm in rural Ohio, collecting food and keeping animals. She worked at some of Cleveland's best restaurants and began her own catering company while still in high school, eager to go into the culinary profession. Emily graduated from the Culinary Institute of America (CIA) in Hyde Park, New York, with a degree in Restaurant Management after leaving Ohio. She worked as a teaching assistant there until she moved to Paris to pursue her master's degree at the Academie Internationale de Management. Emily went on to acquire two master's degrees in hospitality management, one in Paris and the other at the Rosen College of Hospitality and Management at the University of Central Florida in Orlando.
