Elizabeth Hargrave stands as an American board game designer who revolutionized tabletop gaming through her nature-inspired game designs. Her debut game Wingspan received worldwide recognition in 2019 when it won the Kennerspiel des Jahres award for best connoisseur game of the year. The game received praise for its interesting gameplay mechanics and educational content through its bird attraction system for wildlife sanctuaries. 

Hargrave bases her game design approach on environmental elements while maintaining strict scientific accuracy. After Wingspan she created Mariposas (2020) which studies monarch butterfly migration patterns and The Fox Experiment (2023) which explores fox domestication.
