Elise Ray Biography

Elise Ray was coached by Kelli Hill, the former coach of Olympic medalists Dominique Dawes and Courtney Kupets, at Hill's Angels in Maryland. As a junior, she won her first spot on the US national team and put up a great showing in the 1996 Junior Pan American Championships, finishing second in the all-around and winning gold on the uneven bars and floor exercise. In the years that followed, she continued to shine, winning a silver medal on the uneven bars at the 1998 Goodwill Games. Ray was the highest-ranked American in the 1999 World Championships in Tianjin, China, finishing eighth in the all-around.
