Eldar Shafir is the William Stewart Tod professor of psychology and public affairs at Princeton University and co-director of Ideas42, a social science research and development lab. His research interests are at the intersection of psychology, decision-making, and behavioral economics. Most recently, Shafir has focused on decision-making in contexts of poverty and on applications of behavioral research to policy.
A central theme is the tension between normative assumptions and empirical findings, the implications for the design and implementation of policy, and for our understanding of human behavior more generally.
