Elbow Biography

Guy Garvey (vocals, guitar), Richard Jupp (drums, percussion), Craig Potter (keyboards, piano), Mark Potter (guitar, backing vocals), and Pete Turner make up the English alternative rock band Elbow (bass guitar, backing vocals). Elbow has produced six studio albums: Asleep in the Back, Cast of Thousands, Leaders of the Free World, The Seldom Seen Kid, Build a Rocket Boys!, and The Take-Off and Landing of Everything. They have played together since 1990, but as Elbow since 1997. With the exception of Dead in the Boot, all of their studio albums have been in the top 15 in the United Kingdom, and seven of their singles have charted in the top 40. Elbow received the Mercury Music Prize in 2008 for their album The Seldom Seen Kid, and the Brit Award for Best British Group in 2009. First Steps, the BBC theme for the 2012 London Olympics, was released in 2012.
