Elad Zvi and Gabe Orta founded Bar Lab in 2009, a one-stop consulting firm and internationally known and prominent hospitality management company, out of a shared enthusiasm for the art of the handmade drink and its power to alter experiences. Elad and Gabe have re-energized the hospitality sector by designing distinctive and varied food and beverage programs for pubs, restaurants, and hotels all over the world with over twenty-five years of expertise. Broken Shaker Miami, their debut bar as co-founders and operational partners of Bar Lab, opened in 2012, followed by Broken Shaker Chicago and Los Angeles, 27 Restaurant, and The Anderson. Each venue is designed to provide a one-of-a-kind experience that takes guests to a distinct era and location. Elad and Gabe's claim to fame began with their award-winning handcrafted cocktails, which led them to open the Broken Shaker at the Freehand Miami, Miami's first pop-up bar, in 2012. The Broken Shaker was an instant hit, and what was planned to be a 30-day pop-up turned into a long-term relationship with the Sydell Group, giving the bar a permanent home. In addition to consultancy, Bar Lab expanded its brand portfolio in 2015 with the purchase of 27 restaurants and Broken Shaker Chicago. In 2016, the Broken Shaker chain added its third location in Los Angeles, as well as The Anderson, a unique bar and out-of-the-box concept in Miami. Bar Lab has since received numerous professional accolades and honors, including being named a James Beard finalist twice for "Outstanding Bar Program," ranking #14 on the 'World's 50 Best Bars' list, and winning the coveted 'Spirited Award' for 'Best American Hotel Bar' at Tales of the Cocktail in 2015.
