Edward Vilga is an experienced writer/director as well as a renowned yoga instructor in New York City. Vilga has blended his two professions by writing and directing a series of successful yoga books and DVDs. After Vilga's appearances on REGIS & KELLY and CBS THIS MORNING, the first, YOGA IN BED, ranked #1 for all health and fitness DVDs on Amazon.com. Other articles and broadcasts included PEOPLE MAGAZINE, YOGA JOURNAL, Martha Stewart's BODY SOUL, FITNESS, REAL SIMPLE, and a Travel Channel interview, among almost two dozen more. YOGA IN BED has been published in seven different languages. YOGA FOR SUITS will be the next book and DVD in the series. DEAD BROKE, starring Paul Sorvino, Jill Hennessy, John Glover, Tony Roberts, and Justin Theroux, is Edward Vilga's first feature film, which he wrote and directed. DEAD BROKE debuted at the Newport Film Festival and opened the New York Stories/Angelika Film Festival. Warner Brothers published DEAD BROKE on DVD in 2006. Vilga has also directed, written, and produced outstanding plays throughout the years. Most recently, he co-created and directed MIRACLE IN RWANDA, a one-woman performance about Rwandan genocide survivor Immaculée Iligabiza starring co-creator Leslie Lewis Sword. Sword is excellent and captivating in the many parts, easily transitioning from one to the other, according to THE EPOCH TIMES... Edward Vilga's directing is fantastic... This was a fantastic bit of theatre. MIRACLE IN RWANDA is now touring the world, with stops at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, the National Black Theater Festival, and Stanford University. Vilga has written five novels. Aside from his yoga series, he's written everything from mass-market paperbacks (featured on ENTERTAINMENT TONIGHT and serialized in STAR MAGAZINE) to academic tomes (Rutgers University Press's ACTING NOW; a Stage & Screen Book Club Main Selection) to a romance novel written on the spur of the moment. Vilga maintains a large private teaching business in New York City in addition to writing and directing. He also teaches at the Laughing Lotus Yoga Center, where he got nationally certified, where he teaches numerous highly popular classes. He is a popular national speaker, frequently presenting at big health and business conferences or delivering special event classes, such as one for several hundred people at the TIMES SQUARE Summer Solstice Celebration in New York City. Edward Vilga earned a BA in English from Yale University. He also received a full teaching scholarship at U.S.C.'s Master of Arts in Filmmaking program. Finally, he is head over heels in love with Belle, his chocolate lab.
