Edgar Grospiron was born in 1969 in Lelex, Jura Mountains, and began skiing at the age of 18 months. In 1973, he went to the Alps (then Morzine Avoriaz), eventually settling in Annecy-le-Vieux in 1978.
He made his first-team selections in France freestyle skiing in 1982, and he won his first World Cup podium on March 23, 1987, in La Clusaz. Edgar Grospiron won the bronze medal at the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary.
