Since December 1998, Alan Schultz has served as Chairman of Valassis Communications Inc., as well as President and Chief Executive Officer since June 1998. Since joining Valassis Communications, Inc. in 1984, Mr. Schultz has held a number of top leadership positions. From 1996 to 1998, he was an Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Valassis, as well as an Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing 1992 to 1996. Since 1984, Mr. Schultz has worked for Valassis as Director of Insert Operations and Vice President of the Central Sales Division. He is a member of the R.H. Donnelley Inc. Board of Directors. Since December 19, 1995, he has been on the boards of Valassis Communications Inc. and RH Donnelley Corp. He is a member of The Advertising Council, Inc.'s Board of Directors. Mr. Schultz is a member of the Ad Council and the American Advertising Federation's boards of directors. He is Chairman of Dex Media Inc.'s Compensation and Benefits Committee and a member of the company's Corporate Governance and Nominating Committee. Mr. Schultz is a Certified Public Accountant with Deloitte & Touche's auditing experience. He obtained his B.B.A. from the University of Michigan and graduated with honors.
