Atlas Obscura began operations in 2009 with Joshua Foer to become a prominent travel resource for visitors who want to discover unusual locations which now draws millions of visitors monthly.  

Thuras has achieved three New York Times bestseller status through his co-authorship of Atlas Obscura: An Explorer’s Guide to the World’s Hidden Wonders, Gastro Obscura: A Food Adventurer’s Guide and The Atlas Obscura Explorer’s Guide for the World’s Most Adventurous Kid.
