Dr. Woo isn't one to tattoo and then tell. However, if you spend enough time on his Instagram, you might be able to put together some of his clients' ink (read: most recently, Drake). It's very simple to recognize a characteristic Woo-tat from a billion miles away if you have a steady hand and an excellent eye for anything elaborate and precise. There's a reason why people swarm to him and wait months for an opening at the Shamrock Social Club. And to think that this whole tattooing craze emerged out of nowhere. In fact, he was co-creating a fashion line with a boyhood buddy, and the only ink he'd ever used was pen and paper. “I got my first tattoo when I was 15 years old. He informed us, "It was a dragon on my leg, and it was done down the street at a business called 'Tattoo Mania.'" “After years of having tattooed by Mark [Mahoney] at his Shamrock Social Club store, he approached me one day and asked if I'd ever considered working as an assistant and eventually apprenticing under him. I never saw myself as a tattoo artist. I mean, I love tattoos and have a number of them, but I always felt it was tough to imagine someone's concept and then have it permanently tattooed on their flesh; it simply didn't seem feasible to me. In addition, the tattoo community intimidated me, and I looked up to them. Mark embodies the term "cool." He's the coolest guy on the planet. I never imagined I'd be at that level. So when the chance occurred, I said to myself, "All right!" And the next day, I resigned from my job. It was seven years ago!” He's a tremendous gourmet, and if he wasn't at SSC slapping black and white arrows on someone's arm, he'd be in the kitchen doing something magical. Oh, and he's a violinist with classical training. It's not a huge deal. While Woo's full-sleeved shirts, motorbike, En Noir leather gear, and skull rings may give off a badass image, he assures us that he's "actually just a huge baby." Fatherhood is to blame.
