Dr. Lawrence R. Gelman was born in the year 1951 in Chicago, Illinois. He earned a B.A. in history from the University of Illinois in 1976 and an M.D. from the Medical College of Wisconsin in 1982. Dr. Gelman graduated from Texas Tech University Health Science Center in Lubbock, Texas, with a residency in anesthesiology in 1986.
He holds anesthesiology and critical care medicine board certifications. Dr. Gelman started his anesthesiology practice in McAllen, Texas in 1986 and has been doing so ever since. He is a member of the board of governors and the head of anesthesiology at Doctors Hospital at Renaissance, a 503-bed acute care hospital.
