Dr. Afiya Fredericks is the Project Implementation Manager at Mindset Works where she currently manages the Mindset Works implementation in approximately 15 schools in DCPS. She was introduced to the growth mindset at the onset of her graduate career. Since then she has studied the growth mindset throughout her Masters and Doctoral studies. For her dissertation Dr.
Fredericks conducted an intervention using Brainology® which resulted in significant gains in math scores after teaching fourth and fifth grade minority students a growth mindset.Fredericks delivers talks and workshops for educators and leaders including sessions with Carnegie and Washington DC public schools.Dr. Fredericks received her B.A. in psychology from the University of the Virgin Islands.
