Wheels, Douglas Harry Wheelock is an astronaut and an engineer from the United States. He has spent 178 days in orbit aboard the Space Shuttle, the International Space Station, and the Russian Soyuz. Wheelock stated on July 12, 2011, that he will be returning to active service with the US Army to support Operation Enduring Freedom.
Wheelock attended West Point for four years and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Science and Engineering in 1983. He has commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army's Infantry Branch after graduation and began flying school the following year.
