Doug Emhoff is an American lawyer and the first Second Gentleman of the United States. He is the husband of Vice President Kamala Harris, who took office in January 2021. Emhoff grew up in New Jersey and earned his law degree from the University of Southern California. He met Harris on a blind date, and they later got married.
Emhoff was a successful lawyer who focused on entertainment and intellectual property. He was a partner at DLA Piper in Los Angeles, California, but left to support his wife's campaign for vice president in the 2020 election. Since becoming Second Gentleman, he has taught at Georgetown Law in Washington, D.C. He focuses on important issues like access to legal aid and gender equality. Emhoff has two children from his previous marriage.
