He is the author of the acclaimed 2023 book “When Crack Was King: A People’s History of a Misunderstood Era”, a deeply reported narrative history of the crack epidemic that was longlisted for the National Book Award for Nonfiction. Ramsey currently teaches journalism at Morehouse College, emphasizing ethical, long-form, and multimedia storytelling.
