In 1965, Don Gallegos became a member of the King Soopers family as a grocery buyer. He rapidly acquired a strong desire to provide excellent customer service, and his sensitivity to the needs of others increased in tandem with his high appreciation for people.
During his 43-year career, he worked in practically every aspect of the grocery sector, including buying, merchandising, warehousing, and store management. In 1979, Gallegos was promoted to Executive Vice-President of King Soopers. He held that post for three years until joining Dillon Companies, Inc., the parent company of King Soopers, in 1982. Don was later named King Soopers' President.
