Dexter Holland is a musician, singer, songwriter, and molecular biologist. He is the co-founder, lead vocalist, rhythm guitarist, and primary songwriter of the iconic punk rock band The Offspring, the only constant member since forming the group in 1984 with bassist Greg Kriesel. A former high school valedictorian, Holland earned a B.S. in biology, an M.S. in molecular biology, and a Ph.D. in molecular biology from USC in 2017. He paused his doctoral studies during the band’s massive success in the 1990s, with albums like “Smash” and “Americana”. Holland continues touring with The Offspring while pursuing diverse interests as a licensed pilot who flew solo around the world, an entrepreneur with his award-winning Gringo Bandito hot sauce, and a former owner of Nitro Records.
