In the 4x400m relay, he won the Commonwealth and European Championships in 1986, the World Silver Medal in 1987, and the World Gold Medal in 1991, when he and his three teammates overcame the odds and defeated the Americans, taking home the 4x400m Gold Medal for Great Britain.
