Dennis Roop is the founding director of the Charles C. Gates Center for Regenerative Medicine at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus. Prior to accepting his current position in 2007 he was the director of the Center for Cutaneous Molecular Biology at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston.
Roop’s laboratory was one of the first to discover the genetic basis for inherited skin diseases characterized by a very fragile skin which blisters easily and may result in neonatal death. His current research is directed toward developing stem cell-based therapies for these diseases.
