David Grann Biography

David Grann is an American journalist, author, and staff writer for The New Yorker. Renowned for his deeply researched nonfiction, he specializes in historical and investigative narratives. His bestselling books include “Killers of the Flower Moon: The Osage Murders and the Birth of the FBI” (2017), adapted into a 2023 Martin Scorsese film, which details the 1920s murders of Osage Nation members for their oil wealth. Other works include “The Lost City of Z” (2009), also adapted into a film, about explorer Percy Fawcett’s quest for a mythical Amazonian city, and “The Wager: A Tale of Shipwreck, Mutiny and Murder” (2023), a National Book Award finalist. Grann’s “The White Darkness” (2018) explores Antarctic exploration. A graduate of Connecticut College and Boston University, his journalism has appeared in The New York Times Magazine and The Atlantic. Grann has received the Edgar Award and was named one of The Washington Post’s Notable Nonfiction Authors of 2017.
