At the Harvard School of Public Health, David Bloom is the Clarence James Gamble Professor of Economics and Demography and Chairman of the Department of Population and International Health. His latest research has focused on the connections between population health, demographic change, and economic growth in emerging nations, as well as elementary, secondary, and higher education.
He has taught at Carnegie Mellon University's public policy school as well as Harvard University and Columbia University's economics departments. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and co-directs the Academy's Universal Basic and Secondary Education initiative.
