Daniel Diermeier is the dean of the University of Chicago's Harris School of Public Policy and Emmett Dedmon Professor of Public Administration. Formal political theory, political institutions, the interplay of business and politics, text analytics, public perception, and crisis and reputation management are among his teaching and research interests.

He has two books and over 80 research publications in academic journals, primarily in political science, economics, and management, but also in linguistics, sociology, and psychology, as well as computer science and applied mathematics. Diermeier is a Guggenheim Fellow, as well as a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and the Canadian Institute of Advanced Research (CIFAR).
